"There is pleasure in the pathless woods, There is rapture on the lonely shore, There is society where none intrudes, By the deep sea and the music in its roar; I love not man the less, but Nature more."
-Lord Byron
THE MOTIVATION
Any excuse to journey into the wilderness and create art is all the inspiration I’ll ever need. As a child I took great joy in the unique places of our world, living and traveling to such places as Seoul, Thailand, Hawaii, New York, and many other places around the globe. I would hang pictures of majestic vistas and captivating landscapes from the pages of National Geographic across the walls of my room. Only later as an adult did I realize that I was captivated not only with the places, but with the photographs themselves. To capture a place’s essence as you see it, for others to escape to was my inspiration to become photographer.

THE IDEA
Every artist tries to find a way to connect with his audience, to tell a story or to simply move them with inspirational imagery. Photo Trekker is that way. The opportunity to blend together all of the artistic mediums that I am so passionate about; photography, video production, motion graphics, design, and editing was too good to pass up. As for my subject, well what better than to document my adventures to the country’s vast wilderness in search of that perfect photograph. Only there can I tell a story that I am truly passionate about, and hopefully bring my experiences to the world and inspire us all to treasure our environment for generations to come.

THE CREATION
The making of Photo Trekker is one of my most rewarding experiences to date. From the meticulous planning and scouting to the isolation of the mountains as the sun rises, the series has been a great experience. Each location provided a number of challenges and opportunities that were very conducive to great photography. Shooting everything independently is a great challenge and is very exciting. As I hike through the wilderness and scale the sides of 1,000-foot cliffs, my camera is always right at my side. Season 1 was shot entirely with one camera, photos and videos alike, the Canon 5D Mark II. This camera has revolutionized the photography community by merging photography with video. Being the director, producer, shooter, photographer, editor, designer, of the show also gave me full control of the final vision. Any time an artist can express himself through every medium he is passionate about it is a rare thing; one that needs to be capitalized on at once.

THE GEAR
The most indispensable piece of gear in my arsenal is the Canon 5D Mark II. It serves as my main photography camera with a full frame censor for peak image quality and size. Next is the L Series lenses and top of the line filters and accessories. Finally is the actual out door gear, like backpacks, navigation instruments, and the full array of hiking gear.
